Welcome to Islay Ales
Islay Ales is the only brewery on the beautiful Isle of Islay, off the West Coast of Scotland.
Islay Ales produce hand crafted, high quality cask and bottle conditioned beers (also known as real ale) to be enjoyed at the following pubs, restaurants and hotels on Islay: Port Charlotte Hotel, Lochindaal Hotel (Port Charlotte), Bridgend Hotel, Harbour Inn (Bowmore), The Taste (Bowmore), Islay Hotel (Port Ellen), Ardview Inn (Port Ellen), An Tigh Seinsse (Portnahaven), Port Askaig Hotel, Yan's Kitchen (Port Charlotte), Ardbeg Distillery, Kilchoman Distillery or, should the mood take you, at home.
We are pleased to say the Iain Shaw has managed to presuade the current owners of The Lochside Hotel in Bowmore to now stock some of our ales!
The Brewery and Visitors Centre are open for tours and tastings Monday to Saturday from 10.30am until 5.00pm during the summer and from 10.30am until 4.00pm during the winter. If you are coming a long way to visit us it is always worth phoning ahead to check that we will be able to do a tour for you.
We have just received notification from Aldi's that they are wanting to have our Angus Og Ale back again for this year's Winter Beer Festival in their Scottish Stores! We have been very busy recently getting orders together for shipment to Switzerland, France and Germany. There is also an order in from our old customer in Japan!! Our recent release of our 2 new additions to our range made partly using grist from Kilchoman Distillery, a dark version and a pale version, have been going so well that we have brewed more of them at the expense of some of the others!! Our 2 special brews for Bowmore Distillery have sold well and we are now down to our last few bottles of the Bourbon matured with none of the Sherry matured left.
Plans are well under way for us to go to Craft Beer Rising at the start of September. This is being held at the Drygate Brewery in Glasgow.
